This could mean that you have just been pulled to the surface, so just get on the boat and breathe the O2, it's easier.

Steve

That was why I put an eek in my op

Surely you are ready (as you have just sent up a yellow blob) and are poised with your finger on the ratchet?

Janos

PS - My tank has a buoy attached. It is O2 on 9m of rope in case it gets tangled. I would ask the skipper to drop it as close as possible to my DSMB, and try and get it tangled. If my DSMB and blob end up 10s of metres apart then try again.

No 1 system was to pinch one of the skippers buoys & ask him to drop it next to the yellow smb if it was send up .

No 2 system was to get the skipper to lift the smb ,clip said drop tank onto line so that it slid down the line to you .

So what do you do ?
the given here is that either way (or different ?) you have to explain to the skipper !

No2 Skiper picks up the SMB clips on to my SMB line nd drops the tank in on 9m of rope and a float.

However assuming you released the reel and let the skipper lift it, he attaches it (as above) and drops it all back into the water, that is just asking for it to be tangled up. Then you have to find it when it is dropped back in...as you may have drifted away.

So much better for the skipper to just throw the drop tank at the yellow blob.

Steve

Throwing the drop tank at the yellow blob is almost guarenteed to fail

In UK viz you could easily miss the tank. With UK sea you could have a diferance in surface current to deep current. It just wouldent work

You are waiting for the pull on the line you release the line to let the skiper lift it and clip on and the tank comes right to you.

Its not a problem.

Most skippers I know have a great deel of common practical sense especialy with dealing with roap and such. The diver needs to keep the line under control as well you dont want a load of slack out.

Drop the tank in, let it sink, then release the SMB back into the water.
