Weight distribution question

After some good diving with the same tec gear and getting to a very comfortable configuration, I use steel doubles with no weights. When using my dry suit, I add 6kg to the utility weight integration pockets at my harness. When I did my IANTD trimix certification, I had to use a w/b to be able to perform equipment removal and replacement under water.
My question is: how important is BCD removal / replacement skill under water? What situation will requires having to remove your gear u/w? Is it advisable not dive without a belt or a weight harness due to being prepared for using such a skill?

Thanks in advance.

Kathy

Kathy

the only situation I can envisage ever removing my kit underwater is if the hole in the wreck was too small for me to get through and there was no other way out I could find.

talking your kit off in the water without a very very good reason is just plain stupid. IMHO.
