Isn't is strange that ll us left-handers find the left post more difficult? I'm definitely going to do some more stretching exercises. I can get both hands, including my left one, right down my back, but there's just something about the angle of a left-armed shutdown I found less comfortable than my right!

Basically the manifold means that you can access the gas in either tank using either regulator if you leave the central isolator valve open. If you have a freeflow from the reg you are breathing from on your right post, you swap to your backup second stage that breathes from the left post. You can then shut the central valve down to isolate both tanks - that way you will only lose gas from your right tank while you sort out the problem. You can then shut down your right post, stopping the freeflow from that regulator. Once you have done that, you can turn the isolator valve back open again and the manifold lets you breathe the gas from both tanks again. I'm sure there will be someone with a better explanation but that's my understanding of it. HTH Helen xxx
