I have one that doesn't seem to want to form a good seal on my stage, the 1st stage and cylinder are both 232 bar fittings and the o ring looks good.

Really? I've just taken my Mk2 in to my LDS to have it O2 cleaned so i can use it as a deco reg and was told its actually quite complicated as various bits need replacing. maybe this is just the first time its cleaned though??

Hahahahahahahah find another LDS. A mk2 1st stage has 2 O rings and an HP seat. I can split one down into its component parts in about 30 seconds.

Bricks are more complicated.

Well the first stage parts cost about a fiver, or if you use industrial bits, about 10p.

My local chappie charges £20 plus bits. I reckon £35 should be about right if they are going to make some money out of it.

Alternatively do it yourself*. 2 O rings, an HP seat and a clean. Piece of piss on a mk2.

* or not if you can't

If I have one that doesn't work it goes in the bin & I put one on that does work.
Easy to do if you live in a Western democracy! I just got charged 180 quid (import tax) for a $36 1st stage rebuild kit delivered by DHL! Ouch.
I do have a supply chain via AFPO and BFPO boxes in surrounding countries but I have to wait for these friends to visit. So one has to make do with what one has - repair it or otherwise! I can't pop around to my local dive shop! As I am that shop! LOL

I have one that doesn't seem to want to form a good seal on my stage, the 1st stage and cylinder are both 232 bar fittings and the o ring looks good.
Make sure that the din fitting has inadvertantly come loose from the reg - this happens a lot and is something to check.
Check both sealing surfaces of the O ring. Also is the face of the DS4 DIN fitting dented? I had a scubapro like this with a diver last week it would seal on the left post but sealed on the right post of his twinset OK, ended up with a weird configuration though! (All other regs sealed on both these posts OK so the reg was the problem in this case!)

Personally I use all 300bar din fittings on all my twins and deco tanks except a set of twin 15 steelies that has a scubapro 232 bar manifold and valves I have sometimes had problems with seals on this but usually due to dirt inside the valve on the sealing face.

Rod

i managed to get my mk2 o2 cleaned for £30 which i was quite happy with (jackson sports belfast). Is it possible to get the manuals to do it yourself? one of the the excuses i was given was that the hp seat isnt compatible with high pressure o2, during the o2 clean does this get changed to a different one or is this fantasy?

This is what I was told and the explanation for why it was so expensive....
