stage regs - any preference

At the moment ive one deco stage that i use a scubapro mk2 r190 on, and its worked fine so far, even managed to get it O2 cleaned

As a birthday present i'm buying myself another stage, partly to practice with for now and partly in preparation for further training.

the mk2 i intend using as a 50% bottle and my new toy will be an oxygen bottle, i was going to get the scubapro nitrox reg as its cheaper than just getting a normal m2, but its m26 and at the moment i'm saying no to that particular issue.

i'm tempted to get - Apeks Complete Deco reg set - Nitrox XTX40, DS4 and short hose pressure gauge from dive tech

any other ideas?

Cyklons, as all Poseidons, have the advantage of not being handed so great for stages. IMHO

I have oceanic SP4 and O2 clean delta, i think it is on both my stage regs.

Not sure why being either handed makes a difference on a stage really.

Decent enough stage setup that. You could also see if anywhere has some ATX40 or ATX50s going.

...but then I do like my Apeks regs

Stick with your hunch, Apeks is the way to go.

DSTs have better routing for stage regs, the turret allows the hose to lie flat along the cylinder when stowed.

I have a apeks atx 40 with a ds4 on my rich mix bailout and a Poseidon cyclone on the bottom bailout tin, both with button gauges.

I like the fact that both second stages are totally different shapes, this helps to give a clear indication on what mix you are going on to. just so long as you have put the right reg on the right tin in the first place!!

Get a port swivel for less than a fiver and you can do that with a DS4. Give SDS a call. They were knocking out a DS4/ATX40 for next to dick all not long ago.

Hello.

I use a DS4 with XTX40 second on my 50% bottle, with a swivel as Woz suggests. Also, have swapped the reg to left-hand hose entry, which you can't do with and ATX. Not strictly necessary, but does make it a bit easier in the gob.

Don't really like button gauges. Bit small to read, and I prefer to have something more than a 'full-not full' indicator. I use a normal gauge on a 150mm hose.
