Its sort of diving weather (hopefully) but I'd like a go if you think you might do this again in the autumn

It's an experiment. I have friends who have asked me in the past to run a 'Fundamentals for rebreathers' class. I'm not interested in doing a pale immitation of a fundamentals course but I do recognise that there are skills which I teach my students which may be of benefit to others, be they CCR or OC. Only restriction I'm placing is that RB divers must carry seperate bailout accessible immediately to OC divers.

If it works well, I may do another.

Hi Clare - I would like to book a place - is it OK if I make it provisional for the moment as I need to check my work schedule?

At what stage do you need payment?

Charles

Friend of mine is diving CCR and he says the Fundamentals skills are very handy from his perspective. Propulsion techniques, SMB/Lift bug deployment, working with the reel, maintaining the buoyancy, light signalization, touch contact, control ascents/descents. I'm not sure about the Minimum Gas, V-Drill, S-Drill especially when diving wild combination like CCR/OC where OC dive would need to know how to handle CCR diver in case of emergency. Could be interesting to see how such courses are going. Interesting subject for discussion.

Anyway,
Good Luck to you, Frank

As I set out on my first post, this is not a potted Fundies course. There won't be any GUE valve drills or S drills, especially if people are not in OC/longhose kit. Instead we will look at those things that we all seek to master in diving - trim, buoyancy, bag deployment and finnign techniques. I may loo at team diving if those who come are interested and we can of course chat about anything on teh day - tailoring training to what people want is normally my aim.

What a good day this was

Thanks Clare for your guidance on kit, finning techniques (I can now fin back a bit ), and everything else.

Thanks to Howard for coming along and doing the video (and for sorting out the over-pressure valve on my BCD).

You definitely don't have to be planning to go "DIR" to benefit from a day like this - and my kit is all still in one piece (though I may be making some adjustments soon.)

Glad you enjoyed it Charles.

It did set out for me how the fundamental skills are the same whatever you dive.

I guess I'll do another one some time if there is interest.
