if my O2 was dirty it wouldn't be there not to mention that the input of the filter would be 'dirty' |

| In my mix panel... In my mix panel the last thing I have before the fill whip is a simple hp filter. the logic being that if there is any debris or hydrocarbons (which there shouldn`t be) then it should stay in the panel and not in my cylinder. If you are just trans-filling then it is overkill; if you have a panel - why not. |

| Out of curiosity what do you pay for a J of Helium? Does that come in different grades too? In the past I have used CO2 for welding and also what the call 'Tavern Gas' which is food grade CO2 to make fizzy drinks with. There was no discernable difference to weld with. We used whatever was cheaper. Is this just one of those Heinz / supermarket things where the products are all the same? Out of curiosity since many dive shops seel these gases by the litre, how many litres are there in a J? That's how many does it hold not how big is it... ![]()

| Dive shop gas......... I think the main cost of a fill from a shop is really the person's time. I pay €10.00 for a 12L fill and the price is the same no matter what (existing gas EAN% etc..) When I had access to gas and compressor at my old club we paid £2.50 for O2 per fill and any "profit" went into club funds. I kind of agree with Bob Cooper. £25 isn't that much for a J and the 15 quid or so saving is questionable if you get a bad J and can't use it. I guess if you use lots and lots it might be worth a look. I wonder how many unscrupulous dive shops use welders without telling you? Chris
