Balloon helium- what's in it?

Just got off the phone to out gas supplier and he reckons that balloon helium is He that's gone through a medical MRA scanner then scavenged and rebottled.

Anyone any ideas what's in it?

already been done here- umpten times- get quite heated with people saying it needs to be cos people are too stupid to think about what they do. it does say on the side do not breathe so if you croak thn its your own fault.

I was under the impression that it was 10/50 cant remember where i heard it though

I think it is probably air with just enough Helium to give the balloons a decent amount of lift - ie to make it safe and to keep the cost down. BOC have info sheets on it in my local welding supplies and they are very cagey over the exact content.

My dad used to do the helium balloons at school fetes when I was a nipper, he used pure Helium from work, the balloons used to take off like a rocket if you let go of them and stay on the ceiling of the school hall for days.
