| Hi Steve I did a long reply earlier and it appears to have got lost. So again i was doing an ERD Course this weekend, and hopefully will complete the assesment dives in Sept. Its not a depth thing with me, more a consolidation and with a vague intention of doing First Class Diver sometime. Been qualified to 50m since 98, and done most of my diving there on 88 tables, so depth was never an issue - safety, better planning and better skills more so. I am doing the course with an Instructor from SW Region, and did day 1 the theory around his place in Bristol on Sat. This was about 8 hours of Theory and kit workshop, good to discuss with a few new ideas and options and a look at several deco plan software options. Day 2 was at sunny Vobster (bloody place that is to find), on dive 1 we did a run time exercise including mid-water DSMB and gas switching. Dive 2 was skills - Lots of Reg swapping static x 10, eyes shut x 10, mid-water x 10, eyes shut x 10 etc. Mask swapping to spare and back, removing and replacing bottles, swapping sides, swapping amoungst ourselves, static then mid-water. AAS swim and assend, oh shut downs, lots of them mid-water of course. So that was a 70 min exercise which i thoroughly enjoyed. Good debrief and some areas to work on/polish up. Good to get another perspective and view on what/how you are doing. I hope to do the 2 assesment dives in Sept after some practice at Scapa and the Farnes. As for kit I was on proper way up twin 12's with a 7.5L stage. The other student (an old salt AI) was on 3 x 7L, 2 indies on his back and a stage accross his belly. This is his normal dive configuration due to back problems. Configurations were down to the diver, as long as its tidy and works thats ok, but we made sure everything worked from knife's cutting rope to Octo working for a swim about and assent with stage bottles etc. We used 10L and 3L stages as well to get the feel. Ahh no ally ones though. Many people use the course to do depth progression with an experienced instructor and he is happy with that as long as the skills workshop goes well. I have yet to decide on software for tables and need to do a bit more kit thinking and really just practice, practice, practice. This was not really a published course, he just sorted out some dates which suted us all. I'll PM you his details if you want. Dive Safe Paul

| Hi Paul, thanks for that mate if you could give me his details that would be great and enjoy Scapa. Safe diving, Steve.

| Steve PM on way, i would say the main aim is to qualify for accelerated Deco using up to 80% Nitrox and really tie down drills, kit and run times. I am very much leaning towards a 50% mix for longer shallower dives like long ones in the 30m+ range and 32% with 80% for deeper stuff. I like the bailout options and lower CNS loading with the 80%. But i'm still very open to options and will always tailor to the dive. Dive Safe Paul

| Oh The course cost is £182, which covers training, workbook, qual card and 2 days boat dives plus gas. So very good value for money. Dive Safe Paul
