| I enjoyed it, (depends, like most courses, on the instructor). It very much depends on what you want to do next/within the BS-AC, I'll have a think in the morning. Robert P.S. You might need to turn your cylinders the right way up! |

| I would be keen to do this too, so any info. people care to divulge would be appreciated. Steve, was it this year or next you were thinking of? James

| My personal preference would be for TDI but as I've said before, the suceess of any course depends on the instructor. If you know their background and can be sure that you'll get a good course is more important than the agency. However, if you are already BSAC trained, will continue in BSAC and will probably be diving primarily with BSAC trained divers then why look elsewhere. As you move more into technical diving then it becomes more important to be diving with regular buddies, people who dive in a similar style so it would be sensible to not set yourself apart from them by training differently.

| I did my ER training with Jack Ingle (BSAC tech wallah) and got a TDI cert, but I know that there were BSAC peeps on the same course. (I'm PADI trained & a SAA cross-over) I thoroughly enjoyed the course and I agree it depends on the instructor. If you can justify your kit configuration & demonstrate safe diving skills, does it matter which way up the cylinders are? Whatever you choose, enjoy! Blanaid

| What exactly does the BSAC extended range course allow you to do? At the moment I'm advanced nitrox trained but would like to be able to do accelerated deco in the future. TIA.

| I did the dame as Divegyl, also with Jack Ingle. Yes, it's definately down to the instructor. I'm sure that the ERD does let you accellerate deco and also use nitrox up to 80%. I have the manual, Jack sent me one as he was working on the BS-AC when I did mine with him, so can check for you if you like. r Paul |

| The best thing about the BSAC course is the price. If it is the only ERD course you can afford then do it. The IANTD and TDI courses will teach more and allow more flexibility in your diving. They all allow accelerated decompression, but the BSAC qualification is limited by PPO, FO2 and CNS (1.4, 80%, 80%). Apparently some Trimix instructors are not too keen on teaching BSAC ERD divers as there is so much theory for them to catch up on. Whichever route, the instructor is all important. Personally I try to pick an uncompromising and demanding instructor who is routinely doing the type of diving they are teaching. |
