Choice of Umbilical

Anybody out there offer some advice on what umbilical I should get. Bear in mind don't want to completely break the bank. But I am after a decent umbilical need 2hr+ burn time, need goodman's handle, and maybe wet contact might be a nice extra plus was thinking about using lead-acid batteries (as they are cheap to replace). I'm probably asking for everything but comments and thoughts much appreciated.

I tihnk your major choice is whether you want HID or not. You can get a greenforce FII with LED head, that will do all you asked and isn't that expensive. But you might also want to look at a 100W HID Sartek, at just over £300 they are a fantastic torch. It certainly what i will be upgrading to soon.

Depends on above as tiewrap says, give us a cost and an idea what you want it for so we can better help. If you do a quick search in the equipment archives we have just gone through several torch related threads which may help you.

More umbilical info

Probably looking at around the £300 mark. What do people think of the Halcyon 14 with 50W?

You can get a sartek 100W HID from Andy H for about £380 that would be my choice. Got about a 5hr burntime and a small battery back.

Oh sartek make the Halycon head units, so may as well get a sartek, its just a halycon minus the big stupid H's

Greenforce are luverly

I use the F2 battery and either the Tristar LED-about 40 hours burntime and gives a nice white illumination or a 18w HID burntime of 90 mins ish(but this is serious dosh)

Goodman handle is easy to fit as the system is modular

Talking

I have a Sartek 10W HID on order from Andy Hayhurst, I can't find anyone to give it bad rep but I've heard a few quality problems with the Halcyon ones, especialy the focusable for breaking bulbs which are around £80 each. I am going for NiMh batteries as they are small, should last years, and have a good burn time and variable voltage charger on the Sartek, and it's focusable.

You could do a lot worse?

James

The Halcyon bulbs are only 60 quid, or a hell of a lot less once you realise an HID bulb is a HID Bulb

James - do you have any web addresses I can check the sartek out on ???. Sounds like I might have to get one based on the rep and the size
