| Try Tek-tite in the States - Not cheap but I haven't had any import duties when ordering stuff from them, and they do excellent strobes as well. No idea if anyone does them in the UK. HTH Robert |

| LED back up torch I recently bought a dive rite LED back up torch, 7 LED's with a 30 hour burn time off of, 4 AA batteries. Really bright within the short range the LED torches have. I hunted around for information and it got good write ups from the US cave community. It seems really good. I am pleased with it. I bought it from Go-Dive for £29, which seemed reasonable. hope this helps Ian

| I purchased one for work it gave a white beam but only over a short distance it was no match for my mini mag light. Nigel

| Try the Princeton Tec Impact XL or as headlamp maybe the Matrix 2. When you buy, look for the LED specs to specify 1, 3 or 5 watt luxeon emitters. The 1w is already common, the 3w is starting to show up as well, the 5w is rare and expensive. The Green Force uses the 1w emitters. |

| The latest Luxeon Star LED is very bright indeed. Look for a lamp equipped with one (or more). |

| Maplin do a nice little LED torch - got it 2-3 weeks ago, wasn't expecting much, but its actually really quite good. For short distances it works wonderfully, over longer distances (ie looking into deep dark holes on wrecks) I need the power of my primary torch. Since I got mine I know of at least another two in our club who've got them, one's had it down to 40m, mines been to 30m and no problems on either. It is rated to 30m though, its a basic twist the head to turn it on, but its double o-ring sealed, 3xC cells, 10LEDs, lasts 60 or 90 hours, can't remember. The only thing I don't like is its small and dense so is very negatively bouyant. See www.maplin.co.uk, code L42AT Best thing about it - its £20!! David |
