Thumbs up Kowalski Torch Bulbs

Hey guys and girls.
Any of you out there know anything about Kowalski Torches.
I have a 620 Speed and sadly it fell out of my car yesterday at the Farnes as I was getting my kit together for our 2nd days dive. Although the torch seems fine the bulb inside the reflector popped out and is now rolling around freely!!!!
The bulb has 2 prongs that obviously locate into 2 holes in the bottom of the reflector, but, how the hec do you dismantle the thing to put the jobbie right??????
I've taken the handle off, taken the switch off and taken the two little hex screws out from the end, but it won't budge - ughhhhhh!
Any suggestions greatly received. Ta - muchly!!!!!!!

Same thing happened to Natasha and we only noticed half way down the shot on a dive on the Salsette, but that's another story.

What you need to look for is a couple of screws on the sides of the torch right at the back. Undo those with a small allen key and you should be able to slide the coloured metal cover off the innards of the torch, press the bulb back in, slide cover back etc. Also worth checking the o-rings for hairs/dust and maybe very lightly grease them.

HTH

Have taken these screws out already and the thing won't budge, I think it's jammed, but don't want to force it!!!!

Will have to try and gently persuade it!!
Cheers

give it a good yank! or soak it in warm water... the o-ring is further up than the two screws so you can get quite a bit of salt in there holding the whole thing together...

let me know if the bulbs gone as i have a spare here at work...

Cheers, I'm going to "Dunk it" right now.
I'll let you know the outcome and thanks for the offer of the bulb.

Wey-Hey!! All is OK now, managed to get the innards out and secured the bulb. Everything now works and O rings lubed.

Hopefully won't need the spare bulb, but thanks anyway.

Thumbs up Same ting happed to Josie

Hi Graham,

Josie's 1250 speed did the same earlier this year. I didn't have to dunk the torch. I left the handle on and after removing the hex / Alan grub screws got the unit apart to put the bulb back in.

Congrats on your succefull repair.

Hi Dave
I was worried that it may have been seized up, but thankfully the soak sorted it.
I've cleaned it and lubed it so all should be well now. Pity that the diving season's nearly at an end now (only a couple more weekends diving in the Farnes left).
I'll have to find a muddy puddle somewhere to test everything.
