Arrow Ikelite SPD - Opinions

Hi all
I was wondering what people's opinions were on the Ikelite SPD umbilical torch

http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/spdlite.html

Have access to a second hand one and considering buying it. Any opinions re: performance and price?

Cheers

not heard of the first

never had a JMD but I don't like them on:
Squareness and large size of battery
pants burn time for the size and money

something like £360 ish? you can get HIDs for that
with more than 70 min burn times

You can get them for £289, they were state of the art a few years ago! How much is a replacement bulb for a HID?

& my JMD looks like a torch (big, heavy & ever so butch), not like an Xmas vibrator!!!!

Nearly bought one off eBay. IIRC you can replace the nicads in the battery packs. The one I was after had two packs, curved to fit the tins.

How much? If it's not too dear, try it. If you don't get on with it, I may be interested. Or there's always eBay...

This ones going for £150, with spare bulbs 20w, 50w and 100w, one battery pack.

OK, bearing in mind it was eBay, the one I saw had all that + charger + second pack for £80-ish. That said, £150 for a decent dive torch (if the batteries work) wouldn't be outrageous, but bear in mind you may have to chuck all the batteries away and start again - that could cost from £35 to £100 depending on what you get...

...and I haven't used one, so can't tell you if it's a decent torch or not!

Ok, many thanks for that. Think I'll have to try it out and see if it's worth the cash.

Thank all

Ben
