Question Converting a Halcyon 6 to NiMH?

Hi All

My trusty five year old Halcyon 6 10W HID (not Proteus or Helios, it is the original model) sealed Lacid battery has finally packed up... In that time I have flooded it, replaced the cord twice and put locking latches on it.

Its a bit of a pain to carry on the plane, so instead of just buying a new battery I wondered about retrofitting it with NiMH and a smaller canister to make it lighter and more portable.

Question: Has anyone done this? Will the original Halcyon HID ballast strike ok when connected to a NiMH battery? I seem to remember theres a slight voltage difference.

Halycon charge 160 quid for a Helios canister, and 65 quid for the lid... SO is there a cheaper place for such stuff.

cheers

Andy

No problems, it will just wake up one morning and think it had one hell of a make over

Just be sure to connect the correct wires i.e. colours!
