| Newbie Umbilical Question I recently read the recent HID review on Divernet and I couldn't work out the correlation between the light burn temperature and the brightness of the light. Are these two factors inter-linked or does the temperature relate to something else ? A numptie question I know but I would appreciate an explanation of the light temperature issue with HID lights. Thanks in advance, Kristen |

| Crudely, light temperature relates to the colour of the light. The higher the temperature, the more blue/white it is. See here: http://www.geocities.com/thombell/colortemp.html for a list of the colour temperatures of various light sources. Edit: slightly better explanation here: http://www.alia.com.au/techtopics/colour_temp.htm

| Put simply, HID burns closer to the blue end of the spectrum and is closer to daylight (lots of UV which is why there is very little heat) and halogen burns closer to the red end (lots of IR which is why a big torch will burn through the lens if you use it on the surface). Cheers, Stuart
