Kowalski - Spot beam or wide?
Getting back on the boat today the poxy strap that connected my torch to the 'biner got caught on the ladder and down it went. I shouted over straight away to make a note of the exact position - it'll probably turn up in a month or so if I'm lucky!

I've decided to go and get myself a Kowalski 1250.

What do other Kowalski users have - the spot lens or wide angle?
Spot cover 10 degrees, the wide covers 100 degrees, both at 50 watt.

Users in my club are split over the wide or spot - mainly down to personal choice which isn't helping much.

Can anyone give their opinions on this?

I'd go for the spot (which is what I have) - I think the flood is more for Video stuff...

That is my understanding. I have a Kowalski spot type and it is superb for wrecks and caves.

I noticed at LDS that I can get a Beaver Platinum for £149.

Comes with various bulbs, 20w, 35w and spot & wide 50W.

Has anyone had any experience of these?

I ask as it seems bloody cheap for a 50W torch.

A pal of mine has the 20w, it flooded on the first dive.

I don't think (although I may be wrong) that you can just plug the charger into connectors on the outside of the torch like you can on a Kowalski.

Decided against the 1250 as I've spent a load of cash this month already - BUT I have just bought a 620 (not the speed) from Lighthouse diving for £150 all in!

Bargain. They have 1 or 2 left if anyone else wants one.
