Photon Torpedo
After reading recommendations for these torches from Davey Willo (here) and more generally (here), I bought a couple of Photon Torpedoes as backups. They arrived earlier this week (good week for torches for me - my Salvo HID arrived on Monday). They're solid looking pieces of kit. I took one out for a dry run tonight and was impressed with it - brighter than many main lights I've seen (and owned).

You can get them from here. I paid a little over £90 for two but I suspect that one would work out at less than half that.

But heres hoping that your Salvo burns long and bright and you never need to turn those babies on...

They are pretty cool though eh

Yes indeed. I suggested to Chuck that he get on here - he said he already lurks and probably won't sign up. Apparently the name was chosen as a dig at people who take diving too seriously.

Got two - they arrived today after the first pair disappeared in the post - ordered in time for Fundies so a bit fed up that they didn't get to me but Chuck very good and mailed out a second parcel which arrived without problem.

They seem very well made. I got stung for a little more with customs that I expected but they have still come in cheaper than scouts and I trust will burn for a lot longer.

Good call.
