| Hi all, I have a Fa-Mi Multistar HID30. The first dives were fantastic with it. Enough light to kill a fish with. Today the lamp goes out after one minute! Anybody with an idea what the problem is? Thanks |

The lamp goes on but after 30-60s it just turns off. Hope it's only some loose contact, but I cannot imagine. |

| just remembered a similar thing happened to mr.greekbird's greenforce: he saw a poor dogfish trapped in fishing line so took the handle off his hand(torch is on a handle) whilst freeing the dogfish. result was that torch dangled and got caught in same fishing line ironically. As he tried to swim off it pulled on the cable. After the torch would turn on but as soon as the cable moved it would die...a bit different to you that torch dies after a certain period of time...if it is still under warranty phone them up, or wherever you bought it from and ask?

| I have a FA&Mi Stilio HID. I have had multiple problems with it, one of which was the torch being very tempremental about switching on. It turned out to be a combination of the magnetic switch and the starter for the bulb. I have also gone through two umbilicals and two bulbs for it! Im not familiar with the torch you have, but to test to see if it is the umbilical you can screw the head direct to the battery on mine, giving a torch about a foot long! I suggest calling Chris Denney and seeing if he can sort it out - he sorted mine every time it broke. 01642 486666

careful handling and hose protectors should do the trick. also, check the way it 's mounted on your rig...if the cable bends too much when it comes out of the battery pack, try mounting it lower?

| FA-Mi I've got a Fa-Mi Superstar and I've just sent it back. It it was refusuing to charge itself and wouldn't light up when I wanted too. It has had a recent history of going out after a few minutes as well. All in all i'm not to chuffed with it. I'll wait to see what the shop says about it all. Bez.

When I noticed the problem, I took the cable off the torch and had a closer look, and was surprised when I realised that the break was on the head-side rather than battery-side, since there is a bend (although its held immobile) at the battery pack. The head is always held in place with a clip when its not in use, never hangs from the cable, and I can't imagine where it might have been to cause any sharp bends in the cable. I'll be making sure there's something to support the ends of the cable when I get it back - assuming FaMi haven't done something to the design of the cable already of course! David |
