Goodman Handle

My goodman handle has just arrived after an ebay purchase and I'm about to fit it to my CDH1 torch (Cutsom Divers HID).

Do you guys put anything between the handle and the torch head, the pic (taken from the CD site) looks like there is a pad of some kind there.



Advice please.

Juz,

The CD handle has a small rubber pad, make sure you do the tiewraps up tight to allow for the pad compressing at depth.

if the head and the handle are different metals, then a pad would stop corrosion, and would also stop the handle slipping.

You could try putting a bit of bicycle innertube over the torch head and then fit the handle...

The rubber pad is w*nk. It works fine without it.... or if you're worried, follow Ankes suggestion.

Anke's suggestion was good, but couldn't find my supply, must have put it away, so I've just wrapped some electrical tape around the handle, seems secure enough. If not, I'll dig out the inner tube once I've dived it as is.

Hi Juz, I have the same handle and Torch (thanks for the advise at the show)
I found that the little screws that you use for adjusting the bottom half of the handle work lose and I lost one on a dive as well as the boltsnap. Just make sure you check both before a dive. I have tightened mine and then put some locktite on as well so they can not undo again.

One other thing I found is that after a few dives the little foam pad compressess and your cable ties need tightining

Juz me old fruit, if ever you're short of inner tube, get yourself a condom. Any variety will do, though I find something with a bit of strength to it helps. Much more stretch than a standard bit of inner tube, and also goes on easy, and once it's been in the sea becomes very grippy. Perfect eh? Oh, and easy to find in all good chemists. Come in various lengths, but you might need to buy larger than you usually do to get round the handle.

We can stick that on the list of pervy stuff divers buy from chemists now, I can't imagine there's anyone actually using various products for the purposes they were actually designed for any more! At least we've all got an excuse.
