Fa&Mi Evo 50 on flights

I need some advice here on the Fa&Mi Evo 50 which I know a couple of board members have. I have bought this delightful little torch which I am planning on taking to Tenerife tomorrow. Looking through the 'instructions' that came with it - very badly translated Italian - there is a long spiel given about taking it on the plane, which involves removing the magnetic ring (?), not taking it in handluggage, etc, etc. Does anyone know what the hell they are talking about and whether there is anything i need to do?

Cheers, Ant

I have absolutely no idea - I was hoping someone knew. I presume it is to stop the magnetic field in the airplane from turning the torch on - but this is just a stab in the dark

Does your torch have one of the little screws that stop it being turned on. I'll just take the batteries out of mine then

I read it, didn't see what the point was and then took it in my hand luggage as is and it is absolutely fine.

I'm sure there must be some technical reason for taking it apart but I have no idea what that is.

Remove the blue o-ring that sits under the plastic ring with the magnet in, then the ring will simply slide off the bottom of the torch. Not sure what effect a lump of ferrous iron in your hand luggage will have though.
