Which Umbilical Torch???

Looking for advice on which umbilical torch to put on my xmas pressie list. What do others use? What is robust. Looking for something around the £300-400 mark. Moving from single and pony to twins and most diving will be UK wrecks 30-40m range.

Any advice gratefully......

Steve

This has been covered a lot recently, try a search there are at least 4 threads in the last month with very similar titles. Good luck and i advise this one, suits me:-

Torches

Thanks Paul,

I was certainly considering that Greenforce torch as per your link (which also happens to be my LDS in Redcar).

Thanks again,

Steve

Hi

I agree that the tristar 15 head is the danglies (i've just lost mine over the back of a liveaboard), but don't buy it just yet.

There's a new, better, brighter, SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER LED head out next week from greenforce.

It's got a great write up in a comparison test in one of the magazines, although the review won't be out until the November issue (after the NEC show).

I aim to get hold of two next week and I'll write up after we dive the wellpark next saturday.

I've got a Halcyon Helios 18w HID and it is, IMHO, a load of old rubbish. Its gone rusty in less that a year and the reflector has pitted to the point that a great deal of the beam's power is lost. Its not as though I has miss-treated it either. I've washed it carefully after each dive but its still gone manky very quickly.

I'd go for the Greenforce myself as thats what I'm planning on getting when the Halcyon dies.
