Unhappy Spare 20W bulbs for ND Aurora

Have been trying to get a replacement 20W bulb for my Northern Diver rechargeable torch since June! the 10W spare just isn't the same! Have tried several 'local' dive shops with no luck. Northern Divers didn't have any in stock when I phoned in July and again in August - and they haven't called back to tell me that they have them yet.

Can anyone out there help?

Paul (currently nice but dim)

How old is the torch, if its reasonably new I think I'd ask for my money back as you bought it with a 20W bulb and now with a 10W its not 'fit for purpose'.

Aurora Torch

How old is the torch,

Bought in May this year! I'll have one more go at contacting Northern Diver direct then may well do as you advise. The 10W bulb was supplied with the torch, presumably as a 'temporary' back-up.

Sounds like maybe they over rate the bulb (20W) to get the brightness and it just gives up the ghost too early. Did you pay by CCard, you sometimes have a comeback via them if you did. Just bear in mind if you accept a new bulb (perhaps a lower wattage) then you have accepted the item including its faults so consumer rights get a bit tricky after that. i.e. dont accept anything to keep the torch going on a promise of a better bulb later.

HTH

Best luck
Matt

I've also been trying to find these 20W bulbs for the last few months and can't find them anywhere so can't help you with that but FWIW I have them on backorder with ND for at least 3 months and had an e-mail last week to tell me that 10W bulbs are available but they are 'still waiting for 20W bulbs to come in '

if you do find them anywhere please post the details!!

Martin

Light at the End of the Tunnel?

Have contacted Northern Diver this morning (Tuesday 11.10.05) about the 20W bulbs. Guess what! A consignment should have left the supplier today; only trouble is the supplier is in China and it will be 21 to 28 days before arrival in UK.

At least this is something more definite. Apparently the last consignment was of 10W bulbs only. Can't we make 20W bulbs in the UK at a competitive price anymore? Or am I being politically and economically naive?
