| Umbilical conundrum Right, the situation is this; I have a Custom Divers halogen torch, the on off switch is a reed switch in the torch head opperating a relay in the cannister. No problem there I hear you say, but...... I have a lovely shiny (well, sexy matte black) salvo 21w head, complete with lead, but NO switch on the head, that I want to fit on said CD umbilical cannister. My thoughts are; 1) drill a new hole in the lid of my CD cannister and install a Salvo standard toggle switch. 2) fit a reed switch inside the cannister and a magnet on a knob (sorry madam) on the outside of the cannister. Turn the knob, magnet lines up with reed switch, light turns on. 3) cunning as a weasel with the name 'cunning weasel' plan, get a reed switch that is normally CLOSED, and use a magnet in some sort of retainer on the outside of the cannister, that holds the light OFF until you pull the magnet away. Perhaps keep it on a lanyard and stuff it back in to turn off the light when back on the boat. Peoples thoughts and ridicule welcomed (well, tollerated anyway). Phil

| Send me the dims for the CD lid. Option 4 ) get a new lid with all the bits already on ? You'd have to mill the hole for Option 1 mate, it's not a round switch. does that help narrow it down ? .

| Normal size lids are £42 inc all the hardware. Let me talk to Mr Miller for you, but that's the ballpark. Might be worth it in the long run. HTH . PS it's "The Satan of kit sales" now, not whoring GIT .
