Just as an anecdote to this. I tried most of the suggestions and the torch was having none of it. So I took ot to Stoney on a Wednesday night, and chucked it in the direction of Freeflow who despite his spindly frame, just picked it up and opened it almost without effort. Methinks I am missing something here
I'd about wrenched fingers, shoulders and all sorts trying to get it open, and he just goes "There you go"

If the next 50 years are anything like the past 50 years, I'll be an old man by the time I'm 100

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before.

Now I know about how to get the lid off one of these, and you are obviously all D8 users, can you blokes/blokesses advise me if they are any good? I've had my eye on one for a while. I know HIDs and all these other youbeaut fangled things are great but they are out of my range, I just want to know if this unit is any good. And how does it compare with the C8?

I guess like anything else it depends on the kind of diving you want to do. For my sorts of diving, which is night dives in Stoney, and sea diving that I might want to look at something closely, then its fine. Deeper, darker diving then these days you may want to spend more.
They were the dogs danglies when they came out, so they don't suddenly become a lesser torch just because something better came along - unless you are a shinyluster

Have just got a 21W rechargeable HID Darkbuster in for someone in the club. Holy crap- that's bright. At least as bright as my Salvo umbilical. And it's £249 rather than £800 for a Salvo.

I do believe we have a new "most bang for your buck" winner. Full report will be issued after we've given it a good run for its money this weekend in the Farnes. Will try and do a Charlie's Angels style underwater photo with a 10W light cannon, 21W Salvo and the 21W Darkbuster.
