Glass manufacturers (if that's the right word) might be able to cut you a bit of the right size, if they've got suitable glass available. I worked for a couple of months in a double glazing company (not selling it, if you're wondering ) and occasionally we got requests for odd shaped bits of glass, or specially toughened glass, etc.

Have a look around your local area and find someone who makes windows, or maybe try the glass manufacturers directly - I think the company I used to work for got it from Clayton Glass, or something like that anyway.

Surprised Sartek don't have a spare bit around they could give you though - unless its very old manufacturers tend to keep at least some spare parts for their old product ranges, in case of the type of problem you've got.

Hi David tried that and the company had to try by hand because of the size and not able to get it right in the end, tried sartec too but very unhelpful and having a hard time recommending them for people to buy from at the moment.

Try asking on Scubaboard - letting everyone know that you are getting no help from Sartek. They are far more popular in the States so a) someone might know where you can get the part from, o b) Startek may suddenly care enough to help. I don't know about the US but here you have to provide support/spares for about 7 years after the product is last sold.

Try these guys - a company in Scotland called SpectraGlass.
www.spectraglass.co.uk

They machine cut, grind and toughen a range of glasses.(most glaziers can't toughen small pieces due to the type of machines they use. The bits just fall down between the rollers inside the machine)
We've used them before when we needed short runs of glass for our torches.

Give them the dimensions and specify toughened Boro-Float glass and a tolerance (for example +/- 0.5mm)

As a one-off it'll be expensive but if that's all thats wrong with the torch then it's worth it.

Strange that Sartek don't use toughened glass though. I'd of thought that was a given for a dive lamp thats supposed to be used for technical diving.

Wolf,

Try harrassing Sartek on The Deep Stop they are on there more than Scubaboard.

They should still offer spares for lights, it's not as if it's an antique is it.

That certainly wasn't my experience. They couldn't have been more helpful tbh, but hey no one gets it right 100% of the time.
