| Torches: Discuss Which GF Head - Tristar or HID? in the Dive Kit and Equipment forums: OK, I have a flexi-funstar with a Tristar plus head, which will give me about 8 hours burn time on ... |

| The HID50 head will be longer than the Tristar, and may make the handheld a little unweildy - that would be my only concern. The light you get from the HID50 head will knock spots off the Tristar one. You could also get an umbilical cable and use the HID50 head on the FlexiFunstar battery pack, that would get around the size issue, but introduces a requirement to stow the battery somewhere.... Make sure that both heads require the same voltage - not sure about the FlexiFunstar battery whether it delivers 6 or 12V for it's "usual" head....

| Simon Sorry - should have said I already run the Tristar on an umbilical and GF goodman handle. The funstar can only accept the Star (1 LED), tristar and LED50 - the rest of the heads are not compatible. I would really like the HID, but just wonder if I should sell the Tristar to fund it or have both, but I just think I'll end up never using one of them and selling it later on anyway! Martin |

| Ive got a 100w GF HID and my mates got a Tri star. We do the same dives and allthough mine is brigter it also has the downside of bloody expencive lamps and a limited life, where as the LED should last you a looooong time. Only you know if your light is bright enough for your diving. I like the fact that my diving buddies all have different lights and i can tell who's who from the beam patterns as it saves me turning round all the time to check where they are. Also once you decide that the HID is supirior then you'll want to get a longer burn time and you'll end up with a complete new system battery and all. Id stick with the Tristar. G. |

| Sell the Tristar and keep the HID. You think you'll swap the heads around dependant on dive, but you wont
