Flexi Funstar with 50W HID

OK, after being told several times by Lumb that my flexi battery pack will take one of three heads (star, Tristar Plus and 50W HID), I finally got my hands on a 50W HID head today, screwed it into the battery pack...nothing, nada, zip! Screwed the Tristar head in, three flashes and good as gold, so I have two problems - is it a 'knackered' HID or are the batteries just not up to getting the bulb to light? I've tried new batteries as well, and still nothing. I purchased the head of another YDer (sold as working, of which I have no doubt) and it was packaged up very nicely and loking at the element, all seems well.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Martin

Spoken to Rob at Lumb

Sounds like it could be a problem with the wiring but am not going to try and fix it, especially as it's the old style head so just hope the seller is happy to give a refund!
I've also had to let down the purchaser of my Tristar head as I don't want to be left without a torch.
FYI - Rob tried the 50W HID on a Funstart battery pack and it worked lovely (using both an old and new style HID head)
Thanks anyway

Thumbs up

Sell your Tristar. I have a spare tristar you can borrow long term. I don't have a torch any more but still have the head and a dual umbilical.

Dave C,

p.s. I'll be away from the phone for an hour.
