I am currently working on a mounting for a can lamp myself. I have decided to use a bit of old drainpipe and cut two slots in that to allow it to be attached to the BP strap. Seal the bottom up with a blanking plug (drilled a bit to let the water out ) then drop the battery in the unit. Bungee will hold it in at the top and its slips in and out easily.. (steady....)

This has the added advantage of protecting the battery pack from accidental knocks.

I have so far not been able to get the blanking plug this side of the water, but the very helpful nice folk at YD have found a source for me in the UK for this week.

I have the clips to do exactly what you are suggesting but its a PITA to undo them every time you need to take the thing off for charging.

Chris

Chris can't you just slide the waist harness strap out of the loop?

Why undo the clips? Gareth is proposing mounting on the harness waistband so you just slide the waistband out of the loop you've fastened to the cannister.

Extra weight belt buckle can be used to stop it slipping round the front of the waistband I've read on here.

Going to be trying mine mounted this way too.

Cheers,
Dave.

Just to make sure I've got this, is the diagram below correct showing the waist harness coming through the loop?

Why not put waist harness between cannister and inner bit of loop, putting join on outer bit of loop? Little less scope for flapping about perhaps? Probably makes no odds...

No need for ANY sewing. Just extend the two free ends far enough to be trapped by BOTH jubilee clips. Tadah!

I think it depends on the torch. My Salvo uses separate batteries, so I just take the battery out for charging, leaving the cannister attached to the harness. With other torches e.g. solus you charge the battery by sitting the whole cannister on a charging plate.

Depends which side of the D ring it is. The setup I have is Can, D Ring, mask pocket.. in that order. Well not quite I lost the bloody mask pocket at the weekend.

The battery pack is a bit big to have that far forward. Then where would you put the mask?

But if you have a different setup I can see what you are saying and agree.

Chris

Thanks all I've now successfully creating my webbing loop after all your suggestions and it feels very secure.

Cheers,
Gareth.
