I bought a long thin LED torch yonks ago and I used to tie the torch to the reel grip so that whilst I was ascending I could just spin the reel around to shine the torch on my computer. The LED torch was brill - 2 batteries would last for ages and I could leave it switched on ALL dive + it wouldn't blind anyone. If of any interest I'll dig into my kit box tonight and let you know the name.

If you are talking about your SPG(s) can't you blast them with main torch light now and then and read them by the glow in the dark paint?
