I think your right, it will be slightly brighter in the GF with the Xenophot but the head on the JMD gives a much better spread of light on wide and a tighter beam on spot. Just look at the size of the JMD head compared to the GF, it's about 4 times the surface area.

You really should check out the beam quality when choosing a lamp. People seem to take it for granted that they are all the same for a given output but there really are some very patchy ones out there. It's due to poor reflector design. Shine two lamps on a white wall and see how they vary. Then choose.
