I did notice, when I had it apart that there's a hollow tube running between the rear of the lens and the base of the bulb mount. The tube has a split in it all the way down and has 3 'things' in it - kinda look like small, round motor brushes. I guess these somehow absorb any gas?
I haven't had the courage to plug the charger in yet
will likely be charcoal, give sea and sea a call they must sell them as enough people have flooded torches

Thanks Steven. I'm diving tomorrow and Thursday - off on Friday, so I'll go for the grand plug-in and recharge then

That's the thing I was trying to describe and yes those are the gas absorbing 'granules'. I think S&S sell the bulb holder and backplate (incl chemical things) as one complete unit. Handy to have the spare parts anyway even if you need just the 'chemicals'.

I found when I had to pull my battery pack apart that I couldnt get any shrink wrap, so I just heat glued it all back together. The top plate with the contacts (which is a horrible design) just sits on top and is held on by the shrink wrap, or in my case mases of glue and mastic. This of course makes it very difficult to get the battery pack back into the torch body as there is bugger all room between battery and housing, so strap the batteries together before glueing, then take the strapping off as it really is that tight.

Matt
