Done this (as have those around me) more than once (I'm not too proud to admit to being a numpty). If totally dry now, try the battery on charge but watch it. I have to say that the reflector normally flakes off and becomes unusable if drowned but the mechanics (and often the battery) will still work. UK (Sea & Sea) offer new relectors for those that want to pay for them...

Thanks Andy - I'll give it a go...carefully

Built into the little tubes behind the reflector bit (very techy) are some chemical thingies that absorb gas given off during the work cycle (or recharge) they will be knackered, you need some new ones. I have flooded mine with fresh water a couple of times and dried it out, once it blew one of the battery connector tags, so I stripped it, re soldered it, re-bound it and its working fine. Not sure salt water would be so forgiving though. Matt

| Can't remember it being that dark you'd need a torch under the pier Dave

Ok - cleaned up all the brown powdery stuff off the various parts now, used a wire brush on the contacts, re-assembled it and it still works (both bulbs)! I did notice, when I had it apart that there's a hollow tube running between the rear of the lens and the base of the bulb mount. The tube has a split in it all the way down and has 3 'things' in it - kinda look like small, round motor brushes. I guess these somehow absorb any gas? I haven't had the courage to plug the charger in yet ![]()

been there done that - best thing you can do it charge it in a garage not in your house the charge will dry it out and it will be ok. DO not do as I did and take the battery apart - when I did I actually found there was nothing wrong with it - but can I put it back together agan ??? ![]() NO,,,,,,,, mine's a D8 battery cost for new one is £100!!!! although if you find it is kerputtttt I can find you a cheaper version - there is a thread a few months old I should be able to find!!!! steven
