Ukd8r

Sob, my baby doesn't work any more. It's been on every UK dive I've ever done. It's been down the West Country a few times. It's been to Scapa. It even endured the indignity of pond diving on occasion. It is scuffed and beaten up but has been brought down from the lofty heights of greatness by a f*ck*ed charger!!!! I plugged it in on Friday PM and the charger just buzzes, gets hot and appears to give no charge to the battery.

Anyone know where I can get a cheap but quality replacement?

Is the battery likely to be knackered as well. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sure it's the charger? Rechargeables die quite quickly when left in a state of discharge Could be worth sticking a voltmeter on both to see what's going on...

Cheers, Paul K

Maplins I heard. They also do teh batteries which you can solder together to make a new 'pack' at much less than the U(nderwater) K(intetics) price. I think there was a thread on here or Bsac forum.

If you mean for the torch, and you fancy one of these 21W HID Brightstar babies, brighter than a very bright thing on dark night.

Then gimme a ring, I have ONE only going at a very reasonable price.

Cheers

This place are quite good too Home they sell some high capacity tagged cells at a reasonable price. Just made a couple of packs up for my Light Cannon using cells from them.

Cheers, Paul K

Over the last ten years I've fixed 3 of the old style UK800R chargers. In each instance the thyrister over heat protection has become faulty.

If you can locate a replacement from either an old charger or through RS components or the likes or even short it out (as long as you're about [but not in bed!] during charging), it's an easy fix....

If it's not this there are a number of custom battery makers that will build the pack at a fraction of the maufacturers price... I have addresses somewhere but will need to find them..

Good luck.... by the way, I'm still using my 1993 purchase, it probably done over a 1000 dives....
