My buddy uses the beauchat 30/50 which is better than mine although its more expensive
He was looking to buy asolus hid 21 watt but in light terms his was higher when they compared the two so he stayed with the beauchat

I'd go for a UKD4r can be picked up pretty cheap and are rechargeable. I used one all last year and only replaced it because i needed (well wanted ) an umbilical.

The D4r was great for diving up here at all depths, and made a pretty good light source for taking photos too, something which a 21w salvo doesnt do quite as well.

Or could go salvo rat £105 from mr nik naks, ive used mine as a main torch when ive left the battery in the kitchen for my primary and its pretty good.

If your worried about money, in the long run aswell. I would possibly look at getting a backup torch first and also sample others. Then save up and buy a nice Greenforce, Salvo etc. The biggest argument seems to be HID vs LED at the moment.

As such I would research this thoroughly. And may be try a few out in water if possible.

if you are thinking of spending around £85 the tektite expedition LS 4 aluminium torch has a 4 watt led in whereas the expedition star has a 2 watt led in.

i got a loan of that lamp jonny has and boy was it bright i might get one
