Strobes

So. Red Sea last week and we did a couple of night dives. Now on one of them the boat hung one of those little orange strobes off the back of the boat winking away. You know the one- with the twisty base. Anyway me and Janos thought it was a bit wimpy and as it happens I had a Tektite strobe in my bag so I lobbed it on the line next to the other one.

Holy crap. That's bright. On the way back I thought that the other strobe had been stolen as you couldn't see it with the Tektite flashing away. Very impressive. Anyway. You can get them from Sweary Wally at Lumb Bros in a tasteful black body (rather than the flourescent orange one). Just thought I'd give everyone a poke in the right direction for a rather nice bit of kit rather than a wimpy girly wanky strobe. About £40 if my failing memory serves me.

Alternatively, the Jotron AQ4 can be had for £48 direct from Jotron. Which makes a bit of a mockery of Dive Life claiming the RRP is £90 and selling them for £78; the cnuts

'Tis indeed a nice bit of kit.

This one also looks good as it has a switch rather than twist to operate which I prefer, less likely to flood them
