LED Backup torches

Very quick question...

The "DIR" style of backup torch in LED configuration (Scout, Heiser, RAT etc) - do these burn ok out of water, without damage? I don't want to take another torch to use in the jungle if I can help it and these might do the job....

Heser definetly burns ok. My mate has left his on 3 times in the back of his van The ss tube dissapates heat generated by the LED.

Currently a HUGE fan of the Hesers As you know, just did Cave 1 and suffered more than my fair share of light failures...real and imaginary. The Heser back ups are awesome and a close match for most primary lights.

Also they burn brightly on a reduced battery voltage so whilst your buddies are changing their batteries for fresh ones every day, you know yours are good till the voltage drops below 4.1.

It's one of those "reassuringly expensive" purchases

Go for it Lou ..... you might as well buy four .... you know ... in readiness

How long do they burn for? Fiona said about 5 hours (but then she said they would explode and die out of water...or in salt water )

As for four!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

I shall have to strave from now til Christmas to pay for these two on top of everything else. Ho hum

Lou

I'm glad I am not on this Galapogos trip - I couldn't afford it

BTW, I have a PT LED and it works out of the water just fine. My longest burn time out of the water was about 36 hours - Oops!
