What's so bad about rechargeable batteries for a backup?

Anyway, for me, it would be a primary and probably an overkill at that. Just spent a week on the Zenobia using nothing but a mini-Salvo back-up torch (8AA).

Their power characteristics aren't very good. They work and then suddenly don't and they're more likely to lose their charge when on the shelf.

In short, if they can let you down, they will.

We use radio mics at work. We NEVER use rechargeables.

We do have quite a few people who have bought these as backups, but they are using them in conjunction with a "std" C cell type backup as well.

However, as a Primary and Travelling light, now that is another matter altogether, I think you'd hard pressed to beat the price / performance curve for that.

But I would say that wouldn't I
