Thumbs up Frogman Lenser LED back up torch

I've just recieved one of these when I got home this evening and am very impressed with it.

It cost less than £35 and is much more powerfull than anything I tried in several LDSs over the last couple of weeks in a similar price band. It is the new version and not the old one which was prone to leakage due to the way it screwed on/off, this one is the higher power version with the "chip" and a thumb switch on top. It gives 50 hours of ligh from 4 x AA batteries, but I have heard in places it's 25 hours full power then another 25 at a reduced light??

It feels solid with a metal head, oval plastic body and descent lanyard, possibly it could have done with some chequering on it to help grip?

I took a couple of pictures in the garden from about 3m to compare it to a 21w Salvo. In real life the salvo is far brighter and has a halo that lights up most of the wall, but the camera did not pick that up due to the intensity of the light. Never the less, to see a torch like this give a result this good is a first for me, it does not have the intensity or halo of the salvo, but you would not expect it to. I'm sure there are other realy good torches out there, but for this kind of money you will not be disapointed, it's whiter, brighter and has a significantly longer burn time that say an SL4, which is the same kind of money and fits in a BC pocket just like this.

It even comes in a presentation box:

Frogman:

Salvo:

Just received mine yesterday from GlowGadgets, and I'm pretty impressed with it, even with rechargables in it!

Mind you, I got the 'neon' one

Q. Why did the razorbill raise her bill?

A. So the sea urchin could see her chin!

I have two of these (the old type) and am very pleased with them. I've been in the garden now the nights are getting darker doing the old WW2 searchlights thing with them (ok - I was bored!).

They are a great little piece of kit - a near perfect recreational dive light I reckon. The old ones with a twist on and off "switch" were difficult to operate with wet hands - so the reed switch is a welcome addition. I think they now use an even brighter chip as well?

I've had one for a couple of months now and can say they are very good.
I have noticed that my screw also started to rust but some wax on it seems to be holding it up well

I've had mine a few months and quite like it, however the metal has come off the plastic head which means I can't switch it on underwater without taking the metal off and then unscrewing the plastic. I'll investigate further or just buy another, they're damn good torches.

Another thumbs up from me. I have 2 - the newer type - very good torches.

If only LED Lenser could another another few LEDS and then a seperate battery pack to create an umbilical - and keep the cost down like with this unit!

The torch I was using yesterday was a Frogman Lenser. Almost as bright as what the others were using
