| WTF is a BNC thread? Camera tripod is Whitworth. Salvo being Yank will more than likely be UNF (unified national Fine) and if it is small ie under 1/4" it will probably be an attachment series thread. That means it is identified by a number rather than nominal size, easiest way to work out which one is count the number of threads per inch of thread (TPI) TPI - Attachment series number - roughly Diameter 28 - 12 - 5.5mm 32 - 10 - 4.8 36 - 8 - 4.2 40 - 6 - 3.5 44 - 5 - 3.175(1/8") 48 - 4 -- 2.8 56 - 3 - 2.5 64 - 2 - 2.2 72 - 1 - 1.85 80 - 0 - 1.5 If you are getting 24 TPI or fewer TPI for the diameter its UNC (coarse). Before some f wit says they are, BSW and UN are not the same. Hope that helps.

| ok so I measured it but got strange results :-) it seems to be 0.8 TPI does not seem to match my imperial thread gauge and its 3.40 mm diameter 0.134 of an inch off to google now

0.8mm pitch works out at 31.xxxx T(hreads) P(er) I(nch), which at 3.4mm diameter makes it 6 UNC as a prime candidate. exact figures would be 32 tpi, 0.138" diameter(3.505mm)
