The 200 watt version is only £10 more (if you want the umbilical) so I'd go for that to be honest. It would appear that the 150 and the 200 are exactly the same torch head, except that in the 150 the Led's are driven at 2w instead of 3w. I can't see the point in that. Why not make the 3w version dimmable ?
I have tried out one of the big Fa&Mi Led torches in Stoneys shop and I was very unimpressed with its brightness to be honest, although it was nicely put together.
There shouldn't be a need to use 18 led's either nowadays. There are much brighter led's available now than the old Luxeon Star which I think they are still using. The upshot is that the torch could be a lot smaller for the same brightness, and then you could use a Goodman handle on the head. I wouldn't buy one at all.. I don't think it's worth the money.

Solus

Maybe you should look at a solus I have an SU500 while not as narrow a beam as HID lamps give off a nice bright light and a very robust design. But the gen 2 product is brighter and a narrower beam.

FaMi umbilicals don't have a great reputation for reliability. i know of at least three people that have had problems with theirs failing.

If I remember correctly Howard (the dreaded diving dude of this parish) had one and experienced a fair few problems.

For what it is worth, I dive with a guy who has a greenforce LED umbilical, and it seems OK. Personally, I've got a HID 100, but if I'm honest it is overkill for most situations - YMMV!
