Smile dive rite torch

I have a small cut in the cable of my umbilical torch that unfortunately allows a small amount of water into the battery housing, the good thing is it has only let in fresh water and the torch has still worked.

Now salt water I know will knacker it completely so any suggestion apart from replacing the complete cable

I'd replace it, even if you do manage a sucessful repair you may well cut it again.

Metalsub use a cable that I think is called or refered to as submarine cable. I'm informed that even if you cut it through, water can't migrate to either the battery of the torch head. I would guess it's available elsewhere.

The cable should be quite cheap it all depends how good you are with a soldering iron ?

Some sort of silicon sealant and some heat shrink tubing might do a temp repair but not really worth it as youre right salt water will kill it

Not sure what Dive Rite use but AUL's cables were rubberised 3-core electrical mains cable, like the kind used on power tools. Change the cable, if it's a HID and water gets into the ballast then you may have an expensive repair.

Thank you for the help, bite the bullet I guess and see if I can replace the cable.

Diverite express have offered to repair it at cost but it means sending it to America

they will also sell me the parts with no gaurantees that it will be waterproof after replacing myself, no surprises there
