An alternative is one of the Pelican range, can't remember it's name but they cost aroundthe £25 mark, have a great burn time on 3 c cells and are warrented for life. Non LED though and no mask strap. Prince Tec also do a range of small torches hat fit your specs. TTFN Andy

LED LENSER ...NOT Me and me mates had some LED Lensers .......the twist on/off ones and all failed by virtue of the lens assembly coming appart ......one case completely fractured (still finished dive working .....and then snapped in half) and at depth 40m plus was difficult to turn on ! Nice beam and handy when working just not rugged enough for diving abuse However has anybody got the new one with the external switch ? Might solve the twist head problem ? db

Hi, I have a mini Q40 eLED and an old style Frogman lenser. Both are fantastic torches. The mini Q40 eLED is easier to turn on than the frogman but the frogman gives out more light and has a more usable focus in my opionion. The new Frogman has a switch and apparently has 50% more light output than the old one. If I was after a new backup I would defo get the new frogman. Even my old frogman isnt that far behind a £300 to £400 Greenforce tristar (my buddy has one) in light output and the batterys last forever !!! Ive been using a Frogman as a primary light for the last few years, although now upgrading to a bigger torch since going technical. A frogman is all you need for night diving in the red sea though !

An economical replacement torch Sounds as if my Starlight 3W or 3WS is what you need. I use one of these and got a full years diving out of 4 AA batteries. Nearly half my club has these so they must be doing something right. Torches
