2 torches required . . .

I'm looking at buying 2 cheap torches as my others have gone pop, and am open to suggestions, but first here is the criteria:

1. Must be cheap as chips, as an example i want something along the lines of a Tektite trek 4 here:

LUMB BROS Tektite Range Of Torches And Strobe's

or Frogman LED Lenser like this one:

7dayshop.com - Online Store

2. Price - no more than the Lenser @ £33.99 each.

3. Preferably LED. I don't want to be messing around changing batteries every dive ( so something with a long burn time )

4. I'm not after massive illumination, and no pond test required! I'm after something that will light up my hands if my arm is at full stretch underwater.

5. Preferably not too heavy. They will be mounted on my helmet (for fundies of course )

I think that just about covers it. . . . so open to suggestions as i need to place an order and have them delivered to me in Somerset before the 10th April.....

Funnily enough, thats what i had and i paid £7.99 from Lidls ! They were a bit hit and miss whether or not they worked, but when i hit 60 metres last year, they definately didn't like it too much and went POP. That said, they were fine down in the early 50's on plenty of occasions......

Seconded!

They've even got the mask strap attachment to make it easier for you to mount them on your helmet.

Having gone through a lot of cheap torches over a short time, the only genuinely cheap torch I've had is the Salvo RAT3 at £70. This cost a lot less than all the cheap torches if you get my meaning. Cheap torches included the Frogram (one replaced under warranty, but didn't bother sending 2nd one back), couple of Northern diver ones, a Pelikan one (1st replaced, 2nd refunded)- although Pelikan stuff generally v. good, a pair of UK C-cell units (UK do do other good stuff to be fair) but admittedly only one failed as I lost the other one.

In the end the Salvo RAT3 was by the cheapest and by far the best.

Shame 7dayshop have put their prices up, I paid £18 for my Lenser.
Anyway, can send you the Lidl special if you want mate(tw@t), not using it.
