| Greenforce flexi Funstar Yes, it sounds like a contortionist pole dancer. But does it cut through murk enough to use as a primary? Please don't recommend stupidly expensive cannister lights, I can't afford one right now, just want to know if anyone has one of these and if it does the job? Thanks in advance xx Edit... searching the forum suggests it's only light enough for a back up.

| The major plus point of Greenforce Torches is that they are modular. So you can convert this to an umblical with just the addition of the umbilical cable when your budget allows (£77?). Then at some point in the future you could upgrade the lighthead (maybe when another YD'er is selling one) and then you could change the battery pack over. I haven't used that particular torch but I did like the modular greenforce approach. Id guess the downside is that the flexi funstar I think uses AA batteries and is not itself a rechargeable pack. The long burntime is another reason i purchased it for holiday diving...no charger needed for week long red sea trips As i said it is good enough, ive used it in dotty at 50m before now a few times. And at first i thought shit this is no good (as any one who dives dotty knows 50m is a dark place) but the time your eyes adjust etc it was fine. It's bright the only down side is the spot is small compared to the monster torches out there nowadays. But i am happy with it for shallow stuff or gas dives abroad as these big HID's are over kill for that type off stuff. I like it, the light head is small and neat and is plenty bright enough to read guages, to point things out with etc etc. im off to Dahab next week to do sum gas dives in the 80-120m region, blue hole etc etc. The HID head will be staying at home and the star will be in my kit bag for that one. Im off in the garage in a bit to get my stuff ready for a splash tomorrow, ill take a pic of the spot size and brighness for you to give you an idea. ATB Gareth
