It's such a small "twist" and so responsive that you would not be able to flood it unless you were really ham fisted.

I already have a little Aquatec Aqua-Star LED Torch, which is a single led that takes 2 AA batteries. This too has a turned ali body and has a twist on and off. It has a double o ring seal and the twist needed to turn on is very small it would be extremely difficult to flood it accidently. It a great little backup torch, tough as old boots and a 100% reliable so far.

Which is why I like the idea of something similar, but bigger brighter, as a main torch. Have seen Woz's threads raving about the earlier version of Vonny's black beauty and have heard others being equally positive, so gotta be worth a try.

It takes half a turn to switch it on, I've never had a problem with mine.

Yes. It's not a light sabre like a Salvo, but it's perfectly adequate for shining in nooks and crannies in a reef or wreck, or for lighting up a night dive. I have hardly used my Kowalski 620 since I bought mine (and I only have the old 3W version).

Well, I think my UK400R was aware that I was considering replacing it, cos it committed suicide at Stoney last weekend. Completely flooded and then, as I poured the water out, the battery slipped out and smashed to pieces on the car park floor. £50 for a new battery....sigh. Looks like I may be in the market for a new torch a bit sooner than I had anticipated.

Give Rob a ring and he'll put you straight. I spend an afternoon up there looking for a torch for the girlie, ended up walking away with a Tri Star and F2 battery pack. The Techlite is good as well and feels really well made, plus it comes with a set of batteries.

Well, I eventually had to buy one of these for myself (bah, some birthday!) but those awfully nice guys at Lumb Bros made it up to me

Should arrive tomorrow, so tomorrow night I'll be playing "Mr Boogey-Man With the Bright Torch" once the kiddies are tucked up in bed, (the little shi..darlings planted a mobile phone on top of my wardrobe with an alarm set to go off at 4.00am the other night). Revenge will be mine plus I'll have a super shiney new back-up to replace my QXLR3 (which is only 21 years old )

OOOOHHH! Itarriveditarriveditarrived! Superfast delivery!

It is a seriously sexy piece of kit, not only is it very bright but it can be used for bludgeoning people. Very well crafted, a quality piece of gear, seems a shame to just use it as a back-up.
