Shoulder Strobe / Torch - Reccomendations??

Hi All,

Am in need of a shoulder strobe / torch. Present Norther Diver has flooded a couple of times, and i can no longer vouch for it. Hence i'm looking at a replacement. Reliability and battery duration are the priority for me, so any reccomendations??

Neil

What do you want it for M8?

Best strobe i have tried so far in terms of cost / power is the Tectite 200.

but its big

The Jotron is damed expensive but smaller and as powerfull as the Tectite

The Xenec SL15 is much smaller hafe the price of the above but half the power too. 50m rated but i have had my ones down past 100 without issue.

Hear is my old OC rig with the Xenec in place.

I had it there for surface signaling asuming lost at sea at night.

Hiya,

okay, i kinda use the shoulder strobe for two things:

1. In a cave or a covered environment, i like having something to shines down so it means i don't have to illuminate my guages. I don't need much light for this, but....

2. Backup / emergency light - Couple of times now been in waters with bugger all vis, so have attached the strobe to the shotline, and likewise i like being able to have a strobe on the surface, just in case.

Shot line strobe i can strongly recommend the Tectite 200's

As for lighting gauges thats a diferent thing so i supose you mean one of those strobes that doubles as a torch? In which case sorry I cant help as i have never tried them.

I used a Mini Q40 mask mount for that sort of thing or just shine my main torch on them and use the back glow to read them.

Ive got a Sea and Sea Strobe / LED torch combo attached to my BCD hose with cable ties. Uses 2 AA batteries and cost about £25. Sorry, got no pictures; but it's similar to this:

SCUBA DIVING EMERGENCY STROBE/FLASH TORCH LIGHT on eBay, also, Other SCUBA, SCUBA Snorkelling, Sporting Goods (end time 30-Apr-08 20:15:00 BST)

I've got the same one. The torch is pretty useless but would be OK for lighting gauges, the strobe flashes forever on one pair of AA batteries. Essential in case I get lost at Stoney or Capernwray
