Main thing is tidying up for water entry/ascents when the torch is not in use, but when you are most likely to be doing something (like sending a blob up or getting in!!) that you could tangle with.

One way is to have a boltsnap on the handle then clip it off as Gloc describes the clip off the head and tuck the lead under the long hose, then in the waist band. For a temporary "clip off" attach a small loop of bungee to the lead end on the ballast, and attach a double ender to clip it to your right D-ring. This means you can still use it to an extent and it's not shining in your buddies eyes. If you need to you can tuck the cable away but there's a lot less of it that way. Very useful when sending up dSMBs.

I would then turn the light off at 6m or so and stow it away properly in the way Gloc describes.
