I'm in a similar position with a similar budget.

The salvo torches, do look lovely.

I was looking at maybe going for a Darkbuster 12 or 24 watt option, lantern, but a lot of torch for the money and lightweight.

Still not sure though.

I've got a duflex 'photon torpedo (LED)' back up light and am using it as a primary torch at the moment, better than my D4

hmmmmm

Keep a look out, you could get a bargain. Just seen one on ebay, four days left to go and it's a salvo one, current bid £100. Salvo 10W HID umbilical dive light on eBay, also, Dive Lights Torches, SCUBA Snorkelling, Sporting Goods (end time 11-May-08 22:04:09 BST)

Cheers

Bugger, rumbled, that's my bid. It's mine, it's mine!

I'd buy my Sartek 10W HID cos thats about what it cost me first time around. Keep an eye out on Ebay, occasionally they come up from igorthediver and are direct from Sartek.

buy one now

Just get a 21 watt SALVO new or second hand I got mine second hand for under £500 worth every penny and its by far the best torch iv seen in the water at stoney, capernwray, plymouth diving the lane sycla and (persia at 32 metres). All this debate about testing one torch against another side by side.....Well i know mines superior, job done! I remember saying to myself id NEVER pay that much for a torch, now iv got one and it just goes to show i can be wrong

Did any one win it?

Any one on here win that Salvo on ebay.. Think it went for £311 in the end.. But pricey for some thing that is 2 years old. Think I will just get a new one if they go 2nd hand at that price

Sometimes things go mad on ebay. I agree, well over the odds. Especially when you can get a NEW halcyon for not much more. I made the first bid on the Salvo and then stood back and watched.

I guess it's worth what ever somebody wants to pay. I think getting a warranty makes the little extra worth it, personally, at that kind of price.

Indeed.

Still got to decide if LED or the HID is the way forward? I assume you are in the boat as me. I know people sniff at 10w.. But £500 is alot for a torch, and I dont want a lemon.

What sort of diving are you doing? What is important to you and what sort of burn time do you need out your light? I would buy to a specification rather than a price because you can end up making expensive mistakes for the sake of s few extra quid.

I know I wasted a lot of money early on by buying the wrong lights for the diving I wanted to do.
