I bought a second hand 21 watt salvo for under £500 and love it. It is the focusable version so even if i wanted I could use it in the red sea or similar places once defocused. it would probably be akin to other umbilicals in that mode. You mentioned you were hog set up so maybe a handheld might not be to your requirements. An umbililcal on your waistband will hold your long hose (hose) in place as it routes down the wing under the canister up across your chest around your neck into your mouth.Look at (GUE) DIR set up, it works very well for me.This also doubles as ditchable weight (as if id drop it though)....

Thread seems to have gone on down the Salvo route, which are very good.
However I bought a Greenforce HID 100 umbilical and its bloody marvellous. I dive with a wide range of mates some of whom carry the front end of a Ford Mondeo as a dive light because they are just as big , which are great in the North sea but the Greenforce just blows them away. Makes all the difference in spotting divers treasure (aka spidge)
More importantly the advice and service from Rob Lumb is first class so you can be safe in the knowledge that in the rare event of a problem they will step up to the plate to help you. Bit more than £250 but worth the extra.
